Need a Heat Pump Engineer?
Whether your air source heat pump needs its annual service, has developed a fault or simply isn't performing as well as it should, ThermoLoco can help.
We provide experienced heat pump engineers for servicing, fault finding and repairs across Dorchester, Weymouth, Bridport, Sherborne, Blandford Forum and surrounding areas of Dorset.
You don't need to have had your heat pump installed by us. We service and repair existing systems installed by other companies too.
We can help with:
Annual air source heat pump servicing
Heat pump faults and error codes
Poor heating performance
Hot water problems
Unusually high electricity consumption
Noisy heat pumps
Low flow rates and circulation problems
System pressure problems
Controls and temperature settings
Weather compensation and heating curves
Existing heat pumps installed by another company
Heat Pump Servicing
Air Source Heat Pump Servicing
Unlike a gas boiler, a heat pump doesn't burn fuel, but it still needs regular inspection and maintenance to keep it operating efficiently and reliably.
A professional service can also identify developing problems before they become more expensive faults.
What do we check during a heat pump service?
Depending on the system and manufacturer, servicing can include checks of:
System pressures and temperatures
Water flow rates and temperature differential
Heating system condition
Filters and strainers
Outdoor unit and heat exchanger
Condensate drainage
Electrical connections and components
Controls and operating settings
Heating curves/weather compensation
Hot-water operation
Pumps and circulation
System performance and operation
If we identify something that requires additional investigation or repair, we'll explain what we've found and discuss the options with you.
Our experience with both heating systems and air conditioning/refrigeration allows us to diagnose the whole system
rather than looking at only one side of the installation.
Heat Pump Repairs & Fault Finding
Heat pump stopped working or displaying an error code?
Heat-pump faults aren't always caused by the heat pump itself.
Problems with water flow, system design, controls, pumps, valves, sensors or system settings can all affect performance.
ThermoLoco provides systematic fault finding to identify the cause of the problem rather than simply changing components unnecessarily.
We can investigate problems including:
No heating • No hot water • Error codes • Poor performance • High electricity consumption • Low flow • Pressure problems • Noise • Controls issues • Intermittent faults
Heat Pump Brands We Work With

We Can Service Heat Pumps Installed by Other Companies
You don't need to return to the company that originally installed your heat pump.
ThermoLoco services and repairs existing air source heat pump systems, including installations completed by other contractors.
This can be particularly useful if:
Your original installer is no longer trading
Your installer doesn't provide servicing
You're unhappy with the support you've received
You've moved into a property with an existing heat pump
You don't know who originally installed the system
You simply want an independent heat pump engineer to investigate a problem
Qualified Heat Pump Specialists
Heat pumps combine several disciplines, so diagnosing problems properly requires an understanding of more than just the refrigeration circuit.
ThermoLoco brings together experience in heating systems, hydronics, controls, refrigeration and electrical systems to provide a more complete approach to heat-pump servicing and diagnostics.

Heat Pump Servicing FAQs
How often should an air source heat pump be serviced?
An annual service is generally a sensible maintenance interval, although the manufacturer's requirements should always be followed, particularly where servicing is required to maintain warranty conditions.
Can you service a heat pump you didn't install?
Yes. ThermoLoco services and repairs heat pumps installed by other companies as well as systems we've installed ourselves.
My heat pump is showing an error code. Can you help?
Yes. Send us the manufacturer, model and error code when contacting us. This can help us understand the problem before attending.
Why isn't my heat pump heating the house properly?
There are many possible causes. Problems can include incorrect settings, insufficient water flow, blocked filters, circulation issues, controls, sensors, system design or a fault within the heat pump itself. Proper diagnosis is important before deciding what needs replacing.
Why is my heat pump using so much electricity?
High electricity consumption doesn't necessarily mean the heat pump itself is faulty. Heating temperatures, weather compensation, hot-water settings, supplementary heaters, system flow and the heating system design can all influence consumption.
Do you repair Daikin heat pumps?
Yes. ThermoLoco works extensively with Daikin Altherma systems and is a Daikin Sustainable Home Expert.
What information should I send when booking?
If possible, send us:
Manufacturer • Model number • Error code (if displayed) • Description of the problem • Your postcode
